Mio DigiWalker C520
Mio DigiWalker C520 is one of the best and most advanced GPS navigation systems, offering many new features that make it a great GPS system for your car as well as a portable device for many other applications. When you first activate the C520, the main screen shows you eight symbols: MioMap, Videos, Audio, Pictures, Mobile Phone, Stereo; Tools, and Settings. The C520 also comes with a Bluetooth interface that will work with either your phone or your stereo headsets.
The Mio DigiWalker C520 offers a built-in media player for your music, video, and pictures. To use your multimedia feature, you just insert an SD card into the side card slot. The music player, can play both MP3 and WMA formats, letting you also create a play list. To help you convert video files, the Mio DigiWalker C520 comes with Ulead Video Toolbox Version 2.0, which will convert video to MP4 format. To see and enjoy digital images, the C520's viewer supports .JPG and .BMP file formats. Built-in slide show feature also lets you select multiple settings for intervals between slides. A zoom option lets you enlarge your photos as well.
To initiate navigation, you select the MioMap button. The MioMap software is built on an industry standard system, and looks very similar to other Mio GPS devices. Some new features and an improved user interface take real advantage of the C520's new widescreen format. The primary menu has icons for Address, Favorites, Map, POI, History, and Settings.
The C520 now supports text-to-speech conversion for English. The voice pronounce both the street and highway names. The C520 also has an easier user interface. Instead of separate map and cockpit views, you can see a single
map view. A button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen allows you to switch from a full-screen map view to a view that has additional information about your route.
Like other Mio DigiWalkers, the C520 does a great job of providing POIs. With the option of looking for POIs near an address, a location from your previous searches, or nearby GPS fix. You can then scan near your present GPS
location, or your destination, or near the cursor position on the map. The C520 also lets see all POIs by name or by category. The shopping data set has over 200 predefined national retailers that you can search. In addition, you can select to display or to hide icons on the map for any POI.
The C520 supports the standard 2D north and track up views and also the 3D track up view. The C520 also has a 3D north up view. For the 3D views, you can control display angle. If you select to activate auto-zoom, the view flattens out to a 2D view as you approach.
Overall the Mio DigiWalker C520 is a great device which offers you all the latest high tech features found in a GPS navigation system.
